Roles & Responsibilities
Summary
The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and managing mechanical engineering projects, from design through to implementation and completion. This includes ensuring that all mechanical systems are designed, installed, tested, and maintained according to project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external contractors to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
-Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.
-Develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
-Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
-Monitor and track project performance, identifying and mitigating risks, issues, and delays.
-Manage project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
Design & Engineering:
-Design mechanical systems and components, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and power generation systems.
-Perform mechanical calculations, equipment selection, and ensure that designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
-Review and approve designs from contractors and suppliers.
-Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to prepare detailed engineering drawings and schematics.
-Ensure designs meet client specifications, cost limitations, and environmental or sustainability goals.
Installation & Commissioning:
-Oversee the installation of mechanical systems and components, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
-Provide technical support during the construction and installation phases, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
-Coordinate the testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems to the client or operations team.
-Ensure proper documentation of as-built conditions, equipment, and systems.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
-Monitor quality control procedures and ensure that all mechanical work is completed according to relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, ASHRAE, local building codes).
-Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews to ensure the project meets the required specifications and safety standards.
-Ensure that all safety, health, and environmental regulations are strictly followed during all phases of the project.
Team Collaboration:
-Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as electrical, civil, and structural engineers, to ensure coordinated project delivery.
-Supervise and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians, ensuring effective training and mentoring.
-Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors to source materials, components, and services required for the project.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare regular progress reports, status updates, and presentations for clients and senior management.
Qualifications & Soft Competencies:
-Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering.
-Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with significant experience in Aramco projects.
-Proven experience as an Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Project Engineer, with a focus on managing and delivering mechanical projects.
-Experience with mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, plumbing, or power generation.
-Demonstrated experience in the design, procurement, and installation of mechanical systems in industrial, commercial, or construction projects.
-Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar).
-Strong understanding of Aramco standards, construction practices, and project management.
-Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes).
-Experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
-Ability to conduct technical analysis, calculations, and simulations.
-Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
-Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
