The role of Resident Engineer is to ensure that the works implemented by the Contractor at site is as per the contract documents, authority regulations and site requirements to perform quality works with high financial efficiency in a timely manner and to meet the project’s and client’s objectives. They will perform tasks assigned independently with minimum guidance from his line manager in full coordination with other disciplines and professional compliance to the office quality management system. He should have the leadership skills and overall knowledge and experience in multidisciplinary engineering specialties and able to guide his team to achieve the strategic objectives of the project(s), management of client, contractor and stakeholders, as well as day to day tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
- In coordination with the Construction Supervision HOD Plan, organize, and ensure adequate staffing, execution, and monitoring of all construction supervision activities and related support operations.
- Monitor, report and provide assurance to the Construction Supervision HOD, that the Supervision Team is administering the construction contract in accordance with the Client’s expectation with reference to time, cost and quality.
- Collaborate with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees. Ensure that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.
- Manage and monitor the relevant project information and documents related to progress, non-conformities, corrective actions, reports, plans and logs from the supervision team and contractors and provide approval towards the same.
- Maintain project control documentation, design drawings and specifications, back-charge documents, change orders among others.
- Provide guidance regarding scope of work, schedules, procedures, field construction problems, and other technical information.
- Lead the process of the design review in the very initial stage of the project and report the highlighted concerns related to (not limited to) design integrity coordination, constructability and materiality.
- Lead progress meetings with the Supervision Team, the Client, project manager (if any), stakeholders, contractors and help resolve outstanding issues related to site.
- Attend progress meetings arranged by the Supervision Team, the Client representative, project manager (if any) to discuss procedures, progress, schedules, and problems, which may require a decision or an action from the Client and/or stakeholders and coordinate for the resolution of the issues.
- Monitor design changes during construction, according to the relevant Stakeholders’ request, subject to prior approval by Client/project manager (if any).
- Study the contractor’s contract and manage properly the contract to ensure the rights of each party/stakeholder and provide the required consultancy by the support of the department as required.
- Study properly the office QMS; standard operation procedures, policies, plans and formats of X Architects and make sure of professional implementation by him and his team.
- Knowledge and practice of local authorities and regulations specifically relate to the assigned project.
Personal Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or construction Engineering(Masters/PMP are preferable).
- Certified Engineer with UAE and/or GCC engineering membership.
- Knowledge of local Construction laws and regulations.
- Knowledge in International and Regional construction Codes & Standards.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Previous experience of minimum 15 years as Resident Engineer.
- 5 years minimum experience on a large-sized construction project.
- Commercial management experience.
