The Company
Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key client is working together to source an experienced and qualified Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Saudi Arabia. This is a roster-based position with the schedule of 144/36 with 2 return flights home per year
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this senior role is accountable for all geotechnical support to three underground base metals mines and surface and new underground gold mines. This position is open to people ready for adventure who thrive in driving high performance in themselves and their team and who have a passion for safe mining.
The Responsibilities
- Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained.
- Leads the team of Geotechnical Engineers to provide informed, practical and efficient geotechnical guidance to support the mining teams across the business.
- Holds accountability for maintaining the ground control management plans for all client’s mining operations.
- Contributes to safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of base metals and gold resources.
- Assists with budget and forecast preparation and project studies to ensure the company sends the best quality of available ore to their mills for processing.
- Reviews and improves tools and processes for ground control performance, monitoring and reporting, to ensure effective and efficient utilization of assets.
- Develops key strategic initiatives for continuous improvement in mining and ground control management.
- Researches alternative products, services and techniques and makes recommendations to optimize efficiency and cost effectiveness of mining operations though innovative ground control engineering.
- Monitors and manages employee performance and behaviors in line with company policy and the needs of the Technical Services department.
- Promotes a culture of adherence to budget and continuous improvement within the Technical Services and Mine Operations teams.
The Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
- 10+ years’ experience in underground hard-rock geotechnical engineering.
- Excellent geotechnical engineering software skills.
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation).
- Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Exemplary knowledge of safety, quality, and productivity in underground mining.
- Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written).
