Job Summary:
Atmata is looking for a skilled Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement industrial automation systems using Siemens PLCs, HMIs, drives, and motion control solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Siemens TIA Portal, Sinamics drives, industrial robotics, pneumatic systems, and electrical design. This role involves system integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning for automation projects in manufacturing and robotics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. PLC & HMI Development (Siemens Focus)
- Design, program, and debug Siemens PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500, ET200SP, etc.) using TIA Portal.
- Develop Siemens WinCC (HMI/SCADA) applications for process monitoring and control.
- Implement Profinet, Profibus, and Modbus communication between PLCs, drives, and field devices.
- Optimize logic for high-speed automation, motion synchronization, and interlocks.
2. Motion & Drive Systems (Sinamics & Servo Control)
- Configure and commission Siemens Sinamics G120, S120, and V90 servo drives.
- Design and implement motion control solutions using Siemens technology (PLCopen Motion, Technology Objects, etc.).
- Tune servo motors and VFDs for precise speed, torque, and positioning applications.
3. Automation System Integration
- Work with sensors, actuators, pneumatic cylinders, and robotic arms.
- Experience with KUKA, Kawasaki, and UR (Universal Robots) robotic systems.
- Integrate barcode scanners, vision systems, and MES/ERP systems into automation solutions.
- Develop safety logic using Siemens Safety PLCs (Failsafe CPUs, Safety Integrated Solutions).
- Optimize production workflows through Industry 4.0 and IIoT-based automation.
4. Electrical Design & Troubleshooting
- Design electrical control panels using SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Ensure compliance with IEC and NEC standards for electrical and safety designs.
- Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, and drive faults efficiently.
5. Project Execution & Documentation
- Perform on-site commissioning of automation systems and support FAT/SAT.
- Prepare technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system manuals.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams for seamless integration.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, with a strong focus on Siemens products.
Technical Skills:
PLC & HMI Programming: Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, Step 7 (S7-300, S7-400).
Drives & Motion Control: Sinamics G120, S120, V90, S210, and servo tuning.
Fieldbus Communication: Profinet, Profibus, Modbus.
Electrical Design: SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical.
Industrial Robotics: Experience with KUKA, Kawasaki, or UR Robots.
Pneumatics & Actuation: Experience with Festo, SMC, or similar pneumatic systems.
Troubleshooting & Commissioning: Hands-on experience with industrial equipment setup and fault diagnosis.
Programming Languages: Knowledge of C++, Python, or other scripting languages is an added advantage.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in fast-paced automation projects.
- Effective team collaboration and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Siemens PLC, HMI, or Motion Control is preferable.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0, OPC UA, MQTT, SQL databases, and cloud-based automation.
