Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with a strong background in utilizing Estimation Software (Preferably Trimble Estimating Software) to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of power & ELV systems, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record of producing accurate and competitive project estimates. As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our project bidding process, contributing to the success of our projects and overall business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize the Estimation Software to prepare accurate and comprehensive electrical project estimates, including material, labour, and overhead costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project specifications, drawings, and relevant data for accurate estimations.
- Analyse project requirements and scope to determine the most appropriate estimating methods and strategies.
- Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to identify the scope of work, materials required, and potential challenges.
- Generate detailed take-offs and quantity surveys for electrical components, systems, and installations.
- Research and source current market prices for electrical materials and labor rates to ensure competitiveness and accuracy in estimates.
- Assess potential risks and uncertainties in project scope and specifications and factor them into the estimation process.
- Prepare and present clear and organized estimates, including breakdowns of costs, to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a database of historical project costs, materials, and labor rates to improve estimation accuracy over time.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to electrical systems and estimation methodologies.
- Participate in post-bid discussions and review meetings to identify areas for improvement and lessons learned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience (10+ years) working as an Electrical Estimator in the construction or electrical industry.
- Proficiency in using Estimation Software is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Power and ELV systems, components, and construction methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced bidding environment.
