Job Summary
The HSSE Engineer is a key member of the supervision services team. He reviews contractors’ HSSE plans and ensures their adherence to local regulations and client requirements. He conducts regular audits and inspections to ensure the adherence of contractors and subcontractors to approved HSSE plans to protect labor and property on site. The jobholder assist in the preparation of periodic HSSE performance reports, highlighting key HSSE non-conformances and proposed corrective action plans in coordination with the Supervision HSSE teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensure responsibilities are fulfilled with a high quality and in a cost-effective manner
• Liaise with the Quality & HSSE Section for the development of HSSE plans, as needed
• Conduct HSSE training and awareness sessions for supervision staff on site, as needed
• Conduct HSSE audits on site in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
• Review and comments on contractor’s HSSE plans
• Review and comment on the risk assessment and analysis chapter in the Contractor’s submittals
• Implement HSSE policies and procedures on site, in coordination with the contractor and his HSSE representative
• Support Project Managers with managing client relations and expectations, as needed
• Ensure that all site safety instructions are carried out before the start of new work and on the arrival of new staff
• Monitor HSE activities and practices on site and record all safety defects relating to safety working practices in the area where the work is being carried out.
• Assist in the preparation of periodic HSSE performance reports, highlighting HSSE issues on site and recommending HSSE initiatives and mitigation measures to address non-compliance patterns
• Provide input to the Planning Engineer for the development of project progress reports, as needed
• Maintain records of all HSE meetings, safety inspections, the HSE section of the monthly report, and other safety related matters
Requirements:
Qualification Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• Certification in HSSE is a must
• Knowledge of construction supervision services and HSSE best practices
• Understanding of local HSSE regulations
• Good attention to details
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic
• 3+ years of experience with a regional / multinational engineering firm in an HSSE function
• Experience within an HSSE function on construction supervision projects
• Experience with HSSE audit activities
• Experience within the Middle East
