Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC systems for indoor vertical farming facilities, ensuring optimal environmental conditions for plant growth, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct heat load calculations, equipment sizing, and ductwork design to meet the specific requirements of controlled environment agriculture (CEA) and food processing facilities
- Perform chiller selection and demonstrate expertise in integrating complex chiller systems with existing HVAC infrastructure
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate HVAC systems with lighting, irrigation, and automation systems for seamless operation and optimization
- Design and build a tool to calculate cooling and heating requirements for a CEA vertical farm that can be scaled
- Implement energy-saving measures, such as free cooling and heat recovery systems, resulting in substantial energy and cost reductions
- Analyze temperature, humidity, and air velocity sensor data collected from existing facilities to ensure the farms operate at optimum conditions
- Filter, process, and analyze data from multiple sensors through scripting and tooling
- Conduct performance evaluations of HVAC systems to identify potential improvements and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Conduct technical checks of work progress to ensure alignment with project specifications and quality standards
- Review technical documents, including design drawings and layouts, to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in designing HVAC systems for controlled environment agriculture
- (CEA) and food processing facilities
- Strong background in heat load calculations, equipment sizing, and ductwork design
- Expertise in integrating chiller systems with HVAC infrastructure
- Experience in data analysis and sensor data processing
- Proficiency in scripting and tooling for data processing
- Excellent project management and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to project teams
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- English language required
