Job Title: Mechanical Site Engineer

Company Introduction:
We are a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, specializing in high voltage (HV) and extra-high voltage (EHV) substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), power plants, water treatment plants, water pipelines, and industrial plant projects. To support the successful execution of our substation construction projects, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to oversee and manage mechanical works.
Position Overview:
The Mechanical site Engineer will be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and ensuring the proper execution of mechanical systems in substation construction projects. This role involves working closely with project managers, design teams, and contractors to deliver quality installations that meet project specifications and timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Review and Implementation:
- Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to substation construction.
- Ensure that all mechanical designs comply with project requirements, safety standards, and industry codes.
- Provide technical inputs to optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
Site Supervision and Execution:
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, fire protection, and piping systems.
- Ensure that all mechanical works are executed according to approved designs, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Monitor subcontractors and construction teams to ensure adherence to project schedules.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality and functionality of installed mechanical systems.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or non-conformities during construction.
- Prepare and maintain quality assurance and control documentation.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Work closely with electrical engineers, civil engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other project components.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Act as a point of contact between the project team and subcontractors for mechanical-related queries.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all mechanical installations comply with local regulations, international standards, and company policies.
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures during the execution of mechanical works.
- Participate in risk assessments and implement corrective measures to mitigate potential hazards.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of mechanical activities, progress, and inspections.
- Prepare progress reports and communicate updates to project stakeholders.
- Provide as-built documentation and support final handover processes.
Problem-Solving and Support:
- Address and resolve technical issues that arise during construction.
- Provide engineering support during the commissioning phase to ensure mechanical systems operate as intended.
- Suggest improvements to enhance system performance and project outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation construction projects.
- Experience with mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, and fire protection in an industrial or power project setting is preferred.
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, installation, and commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes, such as ASME, API, and ISO.
- Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to address construction challenges.
