Our client is a leader in the logistics and supply chain industry, undertaking the development of a state-of-the-art third-party logistics (3PL) center. This flagship project will feature cutting-edge ambient and chilled warehousing facilities designed to cater to the dynamic needs of global supply chains. They are committed to setting new benchmarks in operational efficiency, sustainability, and advanced automation.
Your Role
As the Project Director, you will take full ownership of the design and execution of this transformative 3PL logistics center. From conceptualization to handover, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure alignment with strategic objectives, and deliver a facility equipped to support high-volume, technology-driven 3PL operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conceptual Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to define the project’s vision, scope, and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Design Leadership: Work with architects, engineering consultants, and automation specialists to develop layouts and workflows optimized for 3PL operations, incorporating cutting-edge technology and sustainability practices.
- Project Execution: Oversee all phases of construction, from site development to fit-out and commissioning, ensuring milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
- Technology Integration: Lead the incorporation of advanced warehouse management systems (WMS), automation, and robotics for seamless inventory handling and order fulfillment.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, minimizing risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Team Management: Build and guide a high-performing team of internal staff, contractors, and consultants, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary interface between internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory bodies, providing regular updates and ensuring transparency.
- Risk Management: Identify potential challenges, assess their impact, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum.
- Operational Readiness: Oversee final testing, commissioning, and handover, ensuring the facility is fully operational and meets 3PL performance benchmarks.
Must Have
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, or related disciplines). A master’s degree in project management, logistics, or a related field is advantageous.
- Experience: A minimum of 25+ years in industrial or logistics infrastructure projects, with at least 5+ years leading large-scale 3PL or warehousing developments.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of 3PL operations, WMS, automation systems, and sustainable construction practices, including ambient and chilled storage environments.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams and deliver complex projects in dynamic environments.
- Project Management Skills: Expertise in managing budgets, schedules, and resources while maintaining a sharp focus on quality and compliance.
- Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management credentials are highly desirable.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: A strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop innovative solutions.
